The Advocates for Human Rights
This group was founded in 1984 with the aim of advocating for human rights and promoting civil societies. The organization has involved various stakeholders including researchers, advocacy and education professionals to build wider coverage in the U.S. and other selected international communities. They also ensure policies and regulations governing these communities are humane. It is the responsibility of this organization to ensure immigrants detained have access to representation.
This group has been fighting for abolishing death penalty in the U.S. and other parts of the world. It has documented rights abuses as well as advocating against practices and laws discriminating against less privileged, especially women, minorities, ethnic and racial, marginalized communities and LGBTI persons.
The Arizona Coalition for Migrant Rights (ACMR)
This is a coalition of various groups advocating for refugee, migrant, religious, human and civil rights of communities in Arizona. They advocate for humane laws and regulations to govern migrant communities in Arizona. It also educates local communities the importance of supporting migrants’ reforms and social change. ACMR helps local rights organizations through a number of initiatives like capacity building and training.
Migrants Rights International (MRI)
MRI’s goal is to advocate for human rights of human rights of persons are observed all over the world. The group’s key responsibility is to fight against violence and restrictive government policies against migrant communities. The organization has been on the frontline to ensure migrant rights are a priority in major global conferences.
Larkin & Lacey Frontera Fund
Larkin & Lacey Frontera Fund was established in 2013 by Phoenix New Times’ executives Jim and Michael. The fund was created in order to support organizations advocating for migrant rights in the state of Arizona.
The two executives had been forcibly arrested and jailed by Maricopa County’s Sheriff, Joe Arpaio, and after a long court battle that lasted for years, Lacey & Larkin were awarded a settlement of 3.75 million their illegal arrest.
Larkin and Lacey decided to create Larkin & Lacey Frontera Fund to help individuals whose rights are violated by authorities in Arizona.
